The SIDS Foundation recommends to not use loose blankets in the crib or playpen, it’s obviously a safety concern. The danger of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is very real; blankets can get wrapped around baby’s head, unable to get fresh air, they re-breathe the same stale air. When baby gets entangled in loose bedding, it’s confining and they are unable to move freely. With movement, baby will get uncovered and get chilled, then wake up several times at night, disturbing the whole family. So why do parents still buy loose blankets?
