GN does Weekend TODAY SHOW

published on May 13th, 2008 . by Steve Greenberg

Weekend TODAYWeekend TODAYWeekend TodayWeekend TodayA Wednesday phone call certainly turned my weekend upside down.  I had heard from the 4th hour of Today that they were considering doing something on Gadget Nation–but no solid plans had been formulated.  Then late in the day Wednesday, the producer from the Weekend TODAY show called and said he wanted to do a “Summer Gadgets” segment from the book.  Friday morning I was flying back up to NYC.

The Weekend TODAY staff was wonderful–very easy going.  As expected, Lester Holt was fun, professional and a gentleman.  I had called Mark Miller of Trangleball to join me.  His gadget added some action to the segment.  The photos above were taken by NBC page Jamelle Henry–very nice page.

While doing the segment I met Suze Orman.  I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time–it was great meeting her and seeing how warm and friendly she was in person.  Without me asking, she left me an autographed copy of her book.

CT INVENTION CONVENTION

published on May 7th, 2008 . by Steve Greenberg

There I am at my first book signing25th Annual Connecticut Invention Convention25th Connecticut Invention ConventionThis past weekend I had the honor of attending the 25th annual Connecticut Invention Convention.  Its an amazing event.  School children from throughout Connecticut showcase their inventions.  These are not high school kids–we’re talking kindergarden through 8th grade.  And if you think these kids are just fronting their parents ideas–think again. I talked to many of them–and I was impressed.  I was invited to the not-for-profit event by Charlie Baumgartner who is president of the CIC.  He does a first rate job making it all come together.  I was at the CIC to do my FIRST book signing.  It was a terrific experience meeting the parents and students.  If you are in Connecticut next year in May, do what you can to attend the 26th CIC at the University of Connecticut–its an event you’ll never forget.  And if you are worried about America’s next generation–don’t worry–if the kids at CIC are any indication–the next generation will be incredible.
