Inventor Wendy Feller conjured up
this lovely idea after many years in the
clothing design business. One cold and blustery day, she was
strolling with her husband, Allan. The
cold didn’t stop them from holding
hands. But trapped inside mittens, it
felt very awkward. “Why can’t we
hold hands inside the mittens?” Wendy
asked her husband. It was at that
magic moment that Smittens was born
(actually reborn, because Wendy had
had this idea years ago but never
followed through).
First, Wendy tried a prototype
with one opening for both hands.
That was mitten mayhem. Then
she came up with the idea of trying
two openings. The second opening
made all the difference. Holding
hands in the winter would never be
the same. Using polar fleece material,
she sent some homemade samples to
magazines, which featured the product.
Love
triumphs again.

set of of Basic style Smittens includes two regular sized mittens that
are worn on the outside hands, and one Smitten for handholding. There
is no adornment of any kind on this style.

1. Choose mitten sizes for the two people who will be using the set of Smittens by measuring from the top of the middle finger down to the wrist. Then see below for the corresponding mitten sizes:
